The Lightning network is the payment network for Bitcoin. On the Lightning network, you can send your satoshis extremely fast and almost for free. In addition, you have a higher level of privacy when paying on the Lightning network than on the Bitcoin network.
So far, we only know centrally managed payment networks like Visa or Mastercard. With a decentralised payment system like the Lightning network, many more transactions can be carried out per second.
